Who is Jesus? This is the fundamental question for christology. The earliest Christians used various titles, most of them drawn from the Old Testament or Hebrew Scriptures, to express their faith in Jesus. They called him prophet, teacher, Messiah, Son of David, Son of Man, Lord, Son of God, Word of God, and occasionally even God. In Who Is Jesus? Thomas Rausch, S.J., focuses on the New Testament's rich variety of christologies. Who Is Jesus? covers the three quests for the historical Jesus, the methods for retrieving the historical Jesus, the Jewish background, the Jesus movement, his preaching and ministry, death and resurrection, the various New Testament christologies, and the development of christological doctrine from the New Testament period to the Council of Chalcedon. Chapters are The Three Quests for the Historical Jesus," *Methodological Considerations, - *The Jewish Background, - *Jesus and His Movement, - *The Preaching and Ministry of Jesus, - *The Death of Jesus, - *God Raised Him from the Dead, - *New Testament Christologies, - *From the New Testament to Chalcedon, - *Sin and Salvation, - and *A Contemporary Approach to Soteriology. - Thomas P. Rausch, SJ, PhD, is the T. Marie Chilton Professor of Catholic Theology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Who is Jesus? Is He God, as the church has claimed for nearly two thousand years? Or is He just a good man? J. V. Fesko takes a close look at Jesus's "I am" claims in the gospel of John and guides us to a better understanding of who Jesus is. Jesus, the author says, conducted His ministry clothed in His "coat of Old Testament colors" made, in God's providence, of the promises, prophecies, themes, and ideas that foretold of the Messiah. Jesus's claims of deity reveal that He is the great I AM, the name God revealed to Moses at the burning bush. In this book with study questions, suitable for individual or group study, Fesko views the "I am" sayings of Jesus through the perspective of the Old Testament, and we come to see Him in His biblical glory as God in the flesh, who dwelled among men to seek and to save those who were lost.

- How could Jesus have preexisted his conception and birth? - What does the incarnation really mean? - How important is the virgin birth? - Would it have been possible for Jesus to sin? - Could Christianity get along without the cross? - Why should I believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus? - What is Jesus doing for me now? Dr. Bruce Demarest answers these and many other questions relating to Jesus Christ, the God-Man. He shows that the truths the Bible teaches about Jesus are much more than theoretical or theological concerns. They are basic to the Christian faithÑbasic to your own faith.

Jesus promised He would come again to take us to be with Him to a place He has prepared for us, and scripture states it is an incredible place and life He has for us, beyond our comprehension. We can begin to experience this abundant life and walk in these Kingdom blessings here and now. As we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, to lead, convict, teach and empower us to live for Christ – we will be prepared for His coming. The real question is not when is He coming, but who is He coming for and will I be among those He receives to Himself? Concerning these end times and His coming, Jesus said though we wouldn’t know the exact hour or day, but that we are to be looking for the signs of His coming – to watch, pray and be ready for Him to come at any moment. As we watch, pray, and then do whatever He asks us to do, we will be ready for His coming or our going to be with Him, whichever comes first. The Bride has made herself ready! He is coming to take a prepared people to a prepared place, so what does it mean to be ready? In light of the possible imminent return of Jesus, what manner of persons ought we to be/how would we want to be found by Him? What sort of Bride does Jesus desire/deserve and will He accept? Who is He soon coming for? A Passionate Bride – not cold or lukewarm but deeply in love with and devoted to Him; one looking and longing for His coming, preparing for His arrival, and desiring only to spend every minute in His presence. It is the essence and key to everything we are and do for the Lord. Everything comes down to loving God and others.
